Ascend extends nylon 66 force majeure on supply interruptions
HOUSTON, March 1, 2019 (PCW) – Chemical giant Ascend Performance Materials has extended force majeure on its nylon 66/PA66 products due to “supply interruptions of raw materials,” a company spokeswoman told PCW on Friday.
The “critical” feedstock not being delivered to Ascend US plants is acrylonitrile--used in the production of hexamethylene diamine (HMD), a primary component of nylon 66.
The interruptions are the result of weather conditions in the Tennessee Valley region, she said.
