US nonfuel use propylene supplies climb for fifth week

HOUSTON, August 8, 2018 (PCW) -- US nonfuel use propylene inventories for the week ending August 3 were up for the fifth straight week, rising 85,000 barrels (3.1%) to 2.847 million barrels, the EIA said today. Propylene stocks are up 523,000 barrels (22.5%) over the past five weeks, bringing them slightly above the 52-week average. Improving refinery FCC operations have been cited as one possible reason for the recent trend of higher inventories. US Gulf refinery utilization last week was up 2.7 percentage points at 97.3%. -- David Barry
