US Aug and Sep ethylene contract agreements settle at increase
HOUSTON, October 3, 2017 (PCW) – Parties settling monthly ethylene contracts have been confirmed to have reached agreement at 31.25 cpp for August, representing a 2 cpp increase from July, and at 35.25 cpp for September, a further increase of 4 cpp.
Contracts began 2017 at 33.5 cpp. The monthly contract price high in 2017 was 35.75 cpp in Feb. One year ago, the August 2016 contract price was 33 cpp and the September 2016 price was 35.75 cpp.
August spot ethylene traded in a range of 20.125-26.25 cpp for Texas and Louisiana combined; its 30-day weighted average was 23.878 cpp (up 4.404 cpp from July) and its 45-day weighted average was 23.398 cpp (up 2.639 cpp).
September spot ethylene traded in a range of 29.5-33 cpp; its 30-day weighted average was 30.732 cpp (up 6.854 cpp from August) and its 45-day weighted average was 29.977 cpp (up 6.579 cpp).
At the start of October, spot ethylene was bid at 28 cpp and offered at 29.25 cpp. -- Kathy Hall
